Frances L. Smith

Frances Smith, 86, passed away to be with the Lord June 19, 2019 in Amarillo, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel at 1505 Martin Rd in Amarillo with Brother Danny Lucas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.    The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, Friday, June 21, 2019 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.

Frances was born in 1932 in Turkey, Texas to Alverin and Edith Younger. She was a homemaker, an avid embroiderer and quilter, a member of the Potter County Home Extension, and faithfully judged and participated yearly in the culinary and textile departments of the Tri-State Fair where she was known her 1st place winning embroidery for many years. Her greatest accomplishments included her many years spent teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible school at Bykota Southern Baptist Church. She poured her heart and soul into raising her boys-her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband and father to her children Better Check “Junior” Gonce, Jr. and former husbands Herb Armstrong and Robert Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Gonce and wife Mercedes, Ronnie Gonce and wife Susie; a sister, Scharlene Stark; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
