Zachery Vaughn “Zach” Benites, 29, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hillside Christian Church Chapel. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.
Zach was born Jan. 24, 1982, in Amarillo. He grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 2000. He was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was very involved in Chrysalis Ministry for several years. He earned his pilot’s license when he was 16, and he loved to fly. Zach loved music and was a member of the very first Amarillo Boys Choir. He also served our country in the Navy as a naval air crewman.
Zach had an infectious smile and a servant’s heart. He was always positive, kind and friendly to everyone he met. He truly cared about people and was always
lifting others up. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
The family welcomes birthday cards for Zach.
He was preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Frank Benites and Carl Shores.
Survivors include his mother, Carla Benites of Amarillo; his father, Danny Benites of Amarillo; a brother, Colby Benites of
Amarillo; his grandparents, Linda and Randy Jones of Lefors, Ethel Benites of Amarillo, Dale and Linda Bisby of Ben Lomond, Calif., and Joyce Skaggs of Oklahoma; Darin Skaggs and family of St. Louis, Mo.; and many other loving family members.
The family suggests memorials be to the fund to benefit Zach Benites at any Amarillo National Bank location.
The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
