Wayne Woodrow Benton

Woodrow Wayne Benton, 83, of Amarillo, Texas passed from this earth on December 12, 2024 after a brief illness.

Wayne was born May 4, 1941, in Estacado, Texas to Wilma Baker Benton and Woodrow Wilson Benton. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1959. He attended Amarillo College and at the age of 18 began working for Affiliated Foods. Wayne retired from Affiliated Foods in 2004 after 45 years with the company.

 Wayne loved Jesus and enjoyed being involved with his church family at Crossroads Country Church and especially with their many outreach ministries. He lived life to the fullest…playing golf, taking trips all over the country with his Texas 7 buddies on their Harleys, and spending time with family and friends. You never left a conversation with him where his love and concern for you and your family wasn’t evident.

 Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Collazo. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Jan Benton; two daughters Ealon (Kirby) McCartney of Gunter, and Kim (Kevin) Brown of Amarillo; one son Kyle (Bonnie) Collazo of Bushland; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is survived by a brother Roger Benton of Amarillo; and five sisters, Shirley (Calvin) Hunt of Amarillo, Carolyn Kirkpatrick of Slaton, Lanita (Brad) Goodrum of Lone Star, Lisa Odgers (Bug Anthony) of Ft. Worth and Linda Coffman of Lubbock.

 Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2024 from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S Coulter, Amarillo, Texas. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Crossroads Country Church, 14425 FM Rd 1541(S Washington), Amarillo, Texas.
