W.M. "Bill" Stout

September 27, 1921 — September 4, 2011

W.M. “Bill” Stout, 89 of Amarill passed away on September 4, 2011.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Howie Batson officiating.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military detail.

The family will receive friends at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Chapel, located at 8310 Coulter Road on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 PM.

W.M. was born on September 27, 1921 in Dodson, Texas to Henry Wesley and Cora Hester Stout.  He attended schools in Childress where he was an end on the football team.  He married Marie Allen on February 18, 1942.  W.M. then was drafted into the United States Army in August of 1944.  He was in combat with the 69th Infantry Division during the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He was an expert marksman and earned the Combat Infantry Badge.  W.M. was honorably discharged on May 4, 1946 after serving during the occupation of Germany.  Upon his return to Texas, W.M. was employed as a cowboy, oilfield roughneck and finally retired from Phillips Independent School District as a maintenance supervisor.  W.M. was a creative and inventive man using his immense skills in all his endeavors.  He enjoyed football and baseball, especially the Texas Rangers and University of Texas Longhorns.  W.M. loved his wife, kids and entire family and was a wonderful Christian dad.  He was a member of First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 8 brothers and sisters

His survivors include his Wife, Marie Stout of Amarillo; son, Dale Stout and wife Inge of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Anna LaJuan Ihrig and husband Danny of Kenedy, TX and Rhonda Morgan of Waterbury, CT; sister, Faye Elledge of Farmington, NM; 6 grandchildren, Carl Carpenter, Cartha Siddiqui, Jake Stout, Kristen Brown, Emily Huntley and Medley Ahrens; and 10 great- grandchildren.

The family suggests Memorial Contributions to the Amarillo Veteran’s Hospital.
