Wilma D. Johnston (Glover)
1926-2017
Wilma D. Johnston Glover, 90, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Family and friends will gather to Celebrate her life at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Church of Christ at the Colonies with Dick Marcear and Don Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Wilma D. Newbrough was born on September 12, 1926 in Amhurst, Texas to William and Rebecca (Putt) Newbrough. She grew up in Sudan, Texas where she attended school. Wilma married Elvin Olen Johnston on February 5, 1942 in Muleshoe, Texas. She was a wife of a farmer and rancher for fifty-six years in Bovina, where she helped him when he needed her help while raising their five children. She was an excellent cook and she enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Wilma later married Boyd Glover in 1999 in Canyon. She was a member of The Church of Christ at the Colonies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Elvin Olen Johnston and Boyd Glover, a son Dennis Ray Johnston, a granddaughter, Jana Lyndena Irvin, a great grandson, Colton Blake Weathers, four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her children, Loyd Olen Johnston and wife Pauline of Decatur, Alabama; Carolyn Trimmell and husband, Roy of Bushland; Gary Dale Johnston and wife Janice, of Amarillo and Evanna Sharlene Wiseman and husband, Larry of San Antonio; a daughter in law, Shirley Johnston of Amarillo; eleven grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
