William "Bill" Joel Wescoat, 87, of Amarillo passed from this life on Friday, August 3, 2018. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 11, 2018 in Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel . Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Bill was born on January 19, 1931, in Fort Worth, Texas to Elza and Nell Wescoat. He married the love of his life, Zella Bivins on June 21, 1949, in Amarillo. Together they raised their three daughters. He was a loving husband and father who was devoted to his family. Bill worked as a fireman/locomotive engineer for Santa Fe Railroad from 1950 until his retirement in 1995. He had a variety of interests and many talents including building the family home and many outdoor activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 68 years, Zella Wescoat.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Anna Segovia and husband, Jesse, Tanya Opitz and husband Steve, and Cindy Wescoat; grandchildren, John Talkington, Jack Talkington, Justin Opitz and Donda Hartsfield; great grandchildren, Mikayla and Reagan Talkington, Skyler Walsh, John and Claire Opitz, and Nikoli Hartsfield-Ikerd.
