William Lewis “Bill” Johnson of Amarillo, died June 22, 2023. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Burial will be held in Llano Cemetery by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors. Family will be receiving friends from 5-7 pm Monday, June 26, 2023 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter St. Amarillo, TX.
Mr. Johnson was born July 26, 1932 in Salina, KS to Myron and Marie Johnson. He graduated from Salina High School and attended Kansas Wesleyan University for two years. He entered the U.S. Air Force and served for four years during the Korean War. He then graduated from West Texas State University. He was employed by several Amarillo companies and clients as an accountant.
He was a member of the Dewline Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force, the West Texas Alumni Association, the American Legion and the American Motorcycle Association. He was an avid sports fan of all sports and enjoyed coaching in years past with Kids, Inc. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Bryan Johnson and his wife Annette Johnson.
Survivors include one brother, Randall of Broomfield, CO., sons Martin, Paul, Douglas and Perry and their families. Also twelve grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Dewline Squadron-CAF, Box 50851, Amarillo, TX 79159 or to favorite charity.
