William "Bill" Matthew Cone

William "Bill" Cone, 74, of Amarillo passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 3, 2019 with Pastor Bob Miller officiating.

Bill was born on April 8, 1945 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Willie and Otilie Cone. He graduated from Fort Hamilton High School and married the Love of his life, Scherry Zwingle on January 6, 1983 in Clovis, NM. Bill went to work for Asarco in 1974 where he later became the IT Manager and after working thirty years, he retired in 2004. He loved being around the water whether it was at the lake, the ocean or cruising on top of it. He was a true beaches and palm trees kind of guy. He also loved traveling to his timeshare in Hawaii, but he really loved spoiling his granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Scherry; his son, Robert Cone; his step son, Paul Thompson and wife Lynetta; four grandchildren, Robert Cone, Justin Cone, Nancy Ockander and husband Chris and Tiffany Swofford and husband Bryce and one great grandchild, Weston Swofford.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1600 S. Coulter, Amarillo, Texas.
