Weldon Owens, 74, of Amarillo died on Monday, March 27, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 29, 2017 in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Weldon was born on August 4, 1942 in Wellington, Texas to Lewis Branum and Desi Lou Owens. He married the love of his life, Mary Frances Meeks and they were foster parents to 27 children over the years. He enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, a brother, L.B. Owens, and two sisters in law, Doris Castleberry and Rita Oldham.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Christine Owens Esparza and husband Alberto; two grandchildren, Samuel and Cathryn Esparza; a brother Charles Owens; brothers in law, Clyde Meeks and Grover Castleberry, and numerous nieces and nephews.
