Wayne G. Welch, 81, passed away on February 23, 2018 in Amarillo, TX. Viewing will be held Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 1:00 -5:00 pm at the funeral home. Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, February 26, 2018 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Kevin Clowe officiating. A private burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S Coulter Road.
The family will receive guests Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 3PM-4PM at the Harrington Assisted Living Facility Club Room, 401 SW 12th.
Wayne was born on June 16, 1936 to Walter & Myrtis Welch in a dugout in Wheeler County, TX. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy following the Korean War in the Pacific region. Upon his return home, he met the love of his life, Paula Brower; and they married 12 days later on December 12, 1958.
Wayne is survived by his wife – three children: Sheila Cunningham, Deborah Solis, and Gregory Welch – and three grandchildren: Darbi Donaldson, Bailey Fenwick, and Amelia Solis.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
