Walter Julius "Bo" Ray, 65, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating.
Military Honors are by DAV Chapter 26 of Amarillo. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Bo Ray was born on December 6, 1948 in Borger, TX to Leland and Dorothy Ray. Bo attended Palo Duro High School and joined the Navy in 1969 where he served two combat tours in Vietnam. Bo was serving on the USS Piedmont as a Chief Petty Officer (E5) when he was honorably discharged. He worked for the Texaco plant until it closed and then went to work for Celanese in Pampa. He finished his career working at the Owens Corning plant in Amarillo. Bo enjoyed horses and mules, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Helen Blay and Vicky Bellah and a brother Clinton.
He is survived by a daughter Misty Ray and husband Eric Dempsey; two sons, Jason Ray and Derek Ray, both of Amarillo; an adopted son, Bruce Allen; one brother-in-law; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends.
