Wade Lane

October 7, 1923 — May 10, 2011

Mr. Wade Elwood Lane passed away on May 10, 2011.  His services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, May 14, 2011 at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter in Amarillo, TX.

Mr. Lane was born on October 7, 1923 in Burlington, CO to Henry Hugh Lane and Myrtle Cook Lane.  The family moved to Borger, TX when Wade was 3 years old.  He grew up in Borger, graduating from Borger High School.  He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1943 when he was 19 years old.  He fought with the 2nd Marine Division in the South Pacific at places like Saipan, Tinian, Tarawa, Okinawa and Mainland China.  He was awarded the Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster for having been wounded in action twice.

After serving his country, Wade met and married Nancy Ann Hale and they had two children, Christie Denise and Gary Wade Lane.  Wade loved his children more than life and showed it in many ways.  During his life, Wade always found time to befriend and help people in need.  He was always more concerned about others’ needs than his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers, Bruce, Rex, Hugh, Keith and Dale.

His suurvivors include son, Gary Lane and wife Shayne; daughter, Christie Lee and husband Raymond; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday, May 13th at the funeral home.
