Virginia B. Sanford, 78, of Amarillo died on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter, Amarillo, Texas 79119.
Virginia Sanford was born on June 7, 1939 in Springfield, Kentucky to Fleece Holderman and Jeanetta Inman. She was a home health care nurse in Louisville and Oklahoma City. She also owned and operated Air-Ag service in Garden City, Kansas. Virginia loved butterflies and hummingbirds, but her real passion was her love for her family and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dwane N. Sanford.
She is survived by a daughter, Gayle Young and husband Bill; a son, Michael Matherly; a brother, Charles Ward; a sister, Ann Dover; her three grandchildren, Melissa Schmidt, Matthew Young and Michael D. Matherly and nine great grandchildren.
