Virgil Wayne Belcher

Virgil Wayne Belcher, 86, of Amarillo died on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Faith Southwest Church with Pastor Jerry Raab officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Virgil was born on February 17, 1929 in Anton, Texas to Mary Margaret and Herman Belcher. He was a graduate of Anton High School and attended Tarleton Sate University. He married the love of his life Anna Beth Matthews on April 4, 1955 in Clovis, New Mexico.
Virgil served in the United States Army, was the Regional Manager of H&R Block in Amarillo for over 30 years doing Tax Tips on KFDA TV, and a member of Kiwanis Club International. In addition, he was instrumental in founding and was a faithful member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church West Campus where he taught Sunday school and was a door greeter for many years. It was a joy for him to sing in the St. Stephen Methodist Men's Choir and diligently took care of the accounting for the Methodist youth ministries at West Texas University. Serving Meals on Wheels was a passion for him. Finally, one of his greatest pleasures was coaching football, baseball, and basketball youth teams for both his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Anna Beth; his children: a son, Frank Belcher and wife Jeannie of Canadian, two daughters, Marian Grona of Iowa Park, Rachael Wilson and late husband Wes of Amarillo; a nephew Tim Belcher of Weslaco; his grandchildren: Angela Black of Canadian, Jay Belcher of Amarillo, and Shelly Cantrell of Dallas; four great grandchildren: Lachlan and Aidan Belcher of Amarillo, and Abigail and Arionna Black of Canadian.
