Viola Stevens

Viola Stevens, 91 of Amarillo passed away on December 25, 2011.  Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Vialo Weis, Jr. officiating.   Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter Rd. Amarillo, TX

The family will receive guests from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the funeral home.

Viola was born on December 25, 1920 in Shattuck, OK to Harry and Emelia Weis.  She was raised in Friona, TX where she attended school.  Viola married Alex Stevens on August 15, 1946 in Lipscomb County.  She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Her talents included quilting and sewing, lovingly making clothing and quilts for each member of her family. Viola was also a great cook and her family has fond memories of arriving home from school on Friday afternoons to fresh baked bread.  She will be dearly missed by all her loved ones and friends, especially her dear friend Marguerite Huyck of Plum Creek.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, Virgil and Vialo Weis and sister, Virginia Renner.

Survivors include her son, Gerald Stevens of Littlefield; 4 daughters, Beverly Dittberner and husband Dean of Lincoln, NB, Geraldine Eddy and husband Dale of St. Joseph, MO, Barbara Allgood and husband Robert of Amarillo and Beatte Curtis and husband Ken of Amarillo; 3 brothers, Vernon Weis of College Place, WA, Harry Weis, Jr. and wife Lois of Bakersfield, CA and Viddian Weis and wife Debra of Perryton; 2 sisters, Vivian Cozart of Cisco, TX and Deniese Werner of College Place, WA; 9 grandchildren, Sherri Cash of Topeka, KS, Terri Ingram of Lincoln, NB, Brian Dittberner of Lincoln, NB, Kim Eddy of Loma Linda, CA,  Kristen Null of Lincoln, NB, Chris and Patrick Allgood of Amarillo, Misty Davis of Addison, TX and Matthew Curtis of Amarillo and 4 great grandchildren, Sandra and Allison Ingram of Lincoln, NB and David and Andrew Cash of Topeka, KS.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Jackie Barker, Maria Bowman, Melody Fortner, Louise Everett, Debra Simms, Amadore Carillo, Maria Sandoval, Lala Rodriquez, Maria Gonzales, Maria Collins, Bren Nelson and the staff on 1-B West of Plum Creek Nursing Home and also to the staff of BSA Hospice.
