Victoria Torres Alvarado, 89, of Colorado Springs passed away Friday, January 17, 2014. Rosary will be read Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral at 1200 South Washington Street with Father Scott L. Raef officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Victoria Torres Alvarado, 89, of Amarillo died Friday, January 17, 2014. Victoria was born on August 24, 1924 in Sinton, Texas, and was married to Manuel Sanchez Alvarado until his death on January 17, 1992. Victoria retired from the First National Bank in 1990. Victoria was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to serve others. Her greatest gift was her desire to always lend a helping hand. Victoria had a trusting heart and always looked for the best in others. Her pleasant personality made it easy for her to interact with everyone she met. She will be remembered as a mother whose heart was filled with enough love to last through all the years and faith strong enough to banish doubts and fears. A legacy for all of us to remember; she shall be truly missed by all her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, and five daughters. Thomas Alvarado, Angie Olivarez, and Dolores Galdeano all from San Antonio; Emma Gonzales of San Angelo; Olga Salazar of Amarillo; Adelita O’Hara of Colorado Springs. Survivors also include a brother, Roberto Torres of Nolensville, Texas and a sister, Manuela Mireles of Taft; Seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
