Vera Bentley, 91, of Amarillo passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, April 22, 2011 at Trinity Fellowship Church, North Ministry Center with Pastor Philip Thurmond and Pastor Donnie Lane officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter.
Mrs. Bentley was born Jan. 16, 1920 in Liberal, Kansas to J. G. and May Roots. She graduated from Texhoma High School in 1938 and married R. L. Bentley in Clovis, NM in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1986. Vera was a long time member at both San Jacinto Baptist Church and Paramount Baptist Church. She loved the Lordand studying Scripture and was always very involved in Church activities and Bible Study. She had lived at Ware Living Center for 15 years. She loved flower gardening and making and decorating birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with her family. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Madeline Sellars, a brother, James Roots and her Son-in-law, Mark Fuller in 2004.
Survivors include a son, Keith Bentley of San Diego, CA, two daughters, Judy Fuller of Amarillo and Dianne Thurmond and husband Philip of Pittsfield, Mass, a sister, Dororthy Johnson of Guymon, OK, seven grandchildren, Paul Thurmond of Manchester, NH, Tiffany Thurmond of Burleson, TX, Dustin Fuller of Amarillo, Keisha Carpenter and husband Chad of San Diego, Shanda Lane and Husband Donnie of Amarillo, Brett Bentley of San Diego and Crystal Bushey and husband Jason of Pittsfield, MA and ten great-grandchildren
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
