Velma "Lavurn" Schrader, 94. of Amarillo died on Saturday, April 18, 2015. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Pastor John Love of Trinity Fellowship Church officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Velma was born on June 22, 1920 to Cecil and Myrtle Nicholas in Paris, TX. She married Bill Schrader on August 5, 1941. Velma was a Baptist lady and was a housewife for many years taking care of her family. Mamaw was a big supporter of her children and her grand children's sporting events, but most of all, she loved her family and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by a son, Billy Schrader and wife Mary of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Erik Schrader and wife Heather and Amanda Brown and husband Kenny, both of Amarillo; six great grandchildren, Tyler Mickey, Eian Schrader, Kailee Schrader, Kameron Brown, Kyron Brown and Sidnee Brown, all of Amarillo; her best friend, domino partner and cousin, Faye Newton of Amarillo and her nephew, Bobby Slagle and wife Patsy of Paris, TX.
