Veda Rozell Essary

Veda Rozell Essary, 95, of Amarillo passed from this life on Monday, March 19, 2018. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from noon until 6:00 pm in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Silverton Cemetery, Silverton, Texas.

Veda "Vicki" Rozell Morris Essary was born January 21, 1923 in Greenwood, Texas in Wise County. She was the ninth of twelve children born to Henry Morris and Mamie Mosley Morris. She grew up in Silverton, TX where her father was a cotton farmer and laborer. Her mother stayed home to raise the children. Vicki left home and married Steve Edens at the age of sixteen. On April 4, 1940, she gave birth to her only child, Michael Lynn Edens.

Although she never graduated high school, Vicki made a 30-year career as a licensed beauty operator, eventually running her own shop in Amarillo.

During her marriage to Glen Green, she developed a huge passion for the rodeo, helping her husband run an amateur rodeo circuit.

After her beauty career, Vicki helped her fourth husband, Larry Thrasher, run a sign company for 20 years.

At the age of 80, she re-married the love of her life, B F Essary, where they spent the rest of their days together in Amarillo, Texas.

Vicki was preceded in death just 3 months prior by her husband of 15 years, B F Essary. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, her son, two brothers, and seven sisters.

She is survived by her brother Alvie Morris of Cushing, OK; her sister Jean Autrey of El Dorado, KS; her granddaughter Deanna Edens Boedeker of Marion, TX; three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Dirk and Cameron Boedeker of Marion, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews, including great nephew Frank Welch of Dimmitt, TX.

We will truly miss her incredible sense of humor and wittiness and will always remember her as a spitfire with a deep love for her family and friends.
