Vanessa Carreon, 19, died on Friday, May 23, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Laurence Catholic Church with Father Felipe Alvarez officiating.Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 7:00 pm , Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at St. Laurence Catholic Church. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Vanessa was born on December 25, 1994 to Jose and Cynthia Carreon. Vanessa graduated from Tascosa High School in 2013 and was a member of the National Honor Society. She also played varsity soccer and attended the World Youth Rally in Madrid, Spain. Vanessa loved photography, baby sitting, arts and crafts and butterflies.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Juan Antonio "Tony" Salinas and an uncle Juan Salinas Jr.
Vanessa is survived by her parents; two sisters, Natalie Carreon and husband Jesus Aguirre and D'Ana Carreon; a brother Juan Daniel "JD" Carreon; Grandmother Minnie Salinas and Grandparents Steve and Mary Montoya, all of Amarillo; She is also survived by her aunts and uncles; Federico and Rita Velazquez, Humberto and Nancy Rocha, Artemio and Mayela Flores, all of Amarillo; John Fabian Salinas and wife Monica of Hereford; Jesus Rodriguez and Jasmine Salinas of Mclean; her nieces and nephews, Jovanni, Neyamiah and Juaquin Aguirre and a God-son Gabriel Ramos, all of Amarillo and hundreds of cousins and friends.
