Tom Isra

Services will be 2:00PM, Nov. 24, 2012 at LaGrone-Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road Road, Amarillo, Texas Visitation will be Friday Nov. 23, 2012 from 5-7PM at the funeral home.
Tom was born on February 24, 1942 in Laos to Nou and Outhong Isra. He attended military school in Laos and was a Captain in the Royal Lao Armed Forces. He married Bouachanh Inthavongsy on May 4, 1971. At that time he also came to the U.S. for military training in Special Officer leadership at Fort Knox, Kentucky, then Airborne Ranger training at Fort Benning, Georgia,  and finally Special Forces training at Fort Bragg, NC.
Mr. Isra moved his family to Amarillo in 1979 where he worked at IBP for 4 years, then as a teacher’s aide at Palo Duro High School for 6 years and then at Grahamm Data Prints as a paper processor for 18 years until his retirement in 2007. He loved his family and grandkids and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife, Bouachanh Isra of Amarillo, two daughters, Tara Paloy Phaosoung and husband Vaulasa of Lubbock, Tori Likit Isra and husband Roman Garcia of Amarillo, one son, Trevor Oyjit-Isra and wife Ashley of Houston, two brothers in Laos, Intong and Khamfong Isra, seven grandchildren and many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
