Timothy Wayne Burge, 59, of Canyon, passed away on July 11, 2020.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel located at 8310 S. Coulter Street in Amarillo. Funeral arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 13 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Timothy was born on September 8, 1960 in Plainview, Texas to Gabie Newman and Ethel Marie (Rainer) Burge. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1979. Tim received a football scholarship to Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Wayland Baptist University.
On August 7, 1998, Tim married Stacey Smith in Lubbock.
Tim spent over thirty-two years serving in law enforcement. He worked as a Deputy in Petersburg and Hale Counties. He was a Deputy in Floyd County and was later elected Justice of the Peace in Floyd County. He was appointed to the Office of the Inspector General where he served until his passing. Tim was a member of the Floydada Masonic Lodge No. 712 where he received his Entered Apprentice degree on February 27, 1990, passed to the Degree of Fellowcraft Mason on September 27, 1990, and Raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason on October 29, 1990. He currently holds a Lifetime Membership to the Floydada Masonic Lodge. He served as Worshipful Master several times during the thirty years of his membership. Tim will be remembered as a person who loved fiercely. His love for his family and friends was sincere. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Randy Paul Burge.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved bride of 22 years, Stacey Burge, of the home; one daughter, Breanna Marler and husband, Jeff; one son, Travis Burge and wife, Annie; one sister, Kayla Edwards and Ronnie Robbins and one brother, Monte Dale Burge and wife Donna. He is also survived by two grandsons, Luke and Josh Marler; three nephews, Rowdee Edwards and wife Erin, Gabe Burge and wife Heather and Brad Burge and wife Rachel.
