It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas (Tommy) Hudson, Jr, who was born on February 28, 1950, and peacefully left this earthly realm on May 1, 2024, in Canyon, Texas, United States. Thomas was the beloved son of Russell and Betty Jo (Harrison) Hudson.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father and mother and first wife Beverly who together had two children. He is survived by his sister, Mary Jo and spouse Jerry Newton, two children, Holly Landess and Kent Hudson with spouse Karrie Hudson. Thomas was also a loving grandfather to four grandchildren Thomas Landess, Tyler Landess, Natalee Hudson, and Sadie Hudson. He was united in marriage to Linda Bain in 2019 and gained three stepchildren, Stacey Van Tassel, Carolyn Van Tassel, and Garry Van Tassel, eight step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.
Tommy attended Morton High School, graduating in 1968, before moving on to further his education at Texas Tech University, where he graduated in 1972. He went on to have a successful career at American Electric Power for over 30 years, retiring in 2010.
Outside of his professional life, Tommy was an active member and deacon of the 1st Baptist Church of Wellington, and of the Wellington Volunteer Firefighter organization for over 30 years, where he selflessly volunteered his time and expertise, and the ambulance service in Wellington for 3 years. He was awarded numerous accolades for his dedication and service.
Tommy had a passion for hunting and airplanes and could often be found indulging in these hobbies in his spare time. His love for the outdoors was a true reflection of his adventurous spirit.
Tommy passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
