Thomas Lee "Tommy" Jackson
August 9, 1935 - November 27, 2014
Thomas "Tommy" Jackson, 79, of Amarillo died on Thursday, November 27, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 1, 2014 at First Assembly of God Church, 6101 S. Bell St. with Rev. Billy Nickell officiating. Burial will follow in Wayside Cemetery with Lance Wesley officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Tommy was born on August 9, 1935 in a boxcar in Amarillo to Hays and Mary Lee Jackson. He lived in Amarillo his entire life and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1954. He married Charlene Wesley Dustman on June 9, 1990. Tommy worked in retail sales for Sears and Levines, where he helped open the store on Amarillo Blvd. Tommy also worked for First National Bank until he retired in 1999. He loved woodworking and crafts and was a terrific handyman. He was also a member of the Pleasant Valley Lions Club. Tommy loved to dress in costume for Halloween when he worked for Sears and with his wife Charlene, where they won several costume contests.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Howard "Bud" Jackson and Kenneth Jackson and four sisters, Maxine Harris, Becky Selman, Yetta Jean Jackson and Mary Elizabeth Edwards.
He is survived by his wife Charlene of the home; a daughter Paula Gowman and husband Ron of Plainview; a granddaughter Sara Marquez and husband Homer of Plainview; a grandson Michael Gowman and wife Darby of Knoxville, TN; two great grandsons, Sebastian and Thomas Marquez of Plainview and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends from 3:00 - 5:00 pm, Sunday, November 30, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter.
