Ed Harvell, 65, of Canyon died Saturday, April 19, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery.
Ed was born on November 20, 1948 in Big Spring, Texas to Thomas and Elsie Harvell. He graduated from Cahoma High School and served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He attended West Texas State University where he got his degree in Music Education. Ed married Sharon Allen on August 13, 1970 in Canyon. Ed was a music educator in AISD for 10 years and was a member of the Amarillo Symphony where he played the bassoon. Ed was a member of the Randall County Sheriff Posse, Randall County Search and Rescue and loved to ride horses. Ed was an avid gardener and reader and loved the outdoors, but his greatest love was entertaining his grandchildren and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ed is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; two sons, Jeff Harvell and wife Julie of Canyon and Jon Harvell and wife Aslihan of Plano; one brother, David Harvell of South Texas and five grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 5-7 pm. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter.
