Teresa Lee Shillings

Teresa Lee Shillings, 61, of Amarillo passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, January 30 , 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Goldthwaite Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter, Amarillo, Texas.
Teresa Shillings was born on May 22, 1952 at Offut AFB, in Bellevue, Nebraska to Clarance and Allene Shillings. Teresa graduated from Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA. She obtained post graduate degrees in Art and Education from West Texas State University and Colorado State University. Teresa taught art in Tulia, Amarillo and additional schools in Colorado for over 20 years before becoming a school administrator for the final 14 years of her career, retiring in 2009. Teresa's brilliance as an educator was the innovation, passion and creative techniques that she used to inspire her students to reach their potential.Teresa loved cooking, painting and playing Liverpool Rummy with the family. She was an avid researcher and photographer. The family is grateful for the years she spent digitally documenting more than a century of the family's history in stunning photo books. She loved to fish with her partner in crime, her brother Kent.
Teresa is survived by her parents Clarance and Allene Shillings of Goldthwaite; a daughter Julie Quackenbush Buffalo and husband Kurt of Amarillo; 2 grandchildren, Jaxson and Aubrey Buffalo; 3 siblings, Sharon Stodghill and husband Jerry of Canon City, CO, Kent Shillings and wife Jill of Goldthwaite and Candace Fitzpatrick and husband Ray of Plano.
