Mrs. Brittain was born February 23, 1932 in Estelline to George W. Green and Norah Cowan Green. She grew up in Hayworth, OK and married Weldon Brittain on Feb. 21, 1950. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1967. She loved and nurtured many children and babies for 30 years at Will Rogers Day Care. She would visit the sick and the elderly every Saturday. Tense was a loving and giving person. She loved the Lord and made Bible study and prayer part of her daily life. Tense was beautiful, kept a beautiful home, and prepared wonderful meals, especially fried chicken, homemade rolls, and chocolate pies. Family was so important to her, and this included her church family. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Welden Rex Brittain in 2000 and her son-in-law, Ricky McFatridge in 2008
Survivors include her daughter, Frances McFatridge of Paris Texas; three sons, Terry Brittain and wife Pamela; Scott Brittain and wife Kathy and Chuck Brittain and wife Carla all of Amarillo, her sister, Nona Shadday of Clinton, MO; her brother Monte Green of Broken Bow, OK; Twelve grandchildren; seventeen great- grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Family requests memorials be made to the High Plains Children’s Home and Georgia Manor Nursing Home.
