Ted W. Freeman, Jr., 58, of Amarillo died on Friday, February 24, 2017. Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 on Friday, March 3, 2017 in ADVO Companies, 5241 S. Washington Street. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Ted W. “Teddy” Freeman Jr., was born October 5, 1958 in Amarillo, Texas, to Rita and Ted Freeman. He grew up in numerous cities, but ended up in his hometown, Amarillo.
Ted moved into Advo Companies Inc., in 2001 where he attended a day rehabilitation program and lived in a group home. Despite his physical disabilities, Ted was always full of life. He would always greet you with the most intoxicating smile.
Ted loved his family, his Advo family and his “babies”. He loved when he got one-on-one attention and when his staff read books to him with funny pictures. Ted loved time out of his chair, in his recliner or on the floor sitting like a frog, he loved sitting like a frog. His favorite toy was a blue bird from the movie “Rio” that Carla gave him. He also had a toy doll that he would squeeze and shake until the neck was stretched out. Watching TV was something else Ted loved to do; his favorite show was “Ma and Pa Kettle,” he would laugh and was very attentive to the TV screen. The last on the list of Ted’s favorites was his outings. Mr. Gattis was his favorite place to go, Ted absolutely loved his pizza. Ted was an athlete and participated in Special Olympics bowling where he won numerous metals.
Teddy has now been reunited with his mother, Rita Freeman, running into her arms in heaven. Ted is preceded in death by his mother Rita Freeman, his grandparents, two uncles and three aunts.
Survivors include his father, Ted Freeman, siblings David Freeman, Matt Freeman, Rita Johnson, and Ann Howard, and special friends Carla Hughes and his Advo family.
