Steven Michael Ricketts, 58, of Amarillo died on Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Memorial Mass will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Scott Raef as Celebrant. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Steven was born on November 23, 1956 in Amarillo to John and Jelanie Ricketts. He graduated from Amarillo High School and went into the insurance business where he owned Ricketts Insurance Agency until he retired. Steve loved riding motorcycles, going to the lake with family and friends where they went camping, water skiing and riding jet skis. He also was an avid golfer and liked playing cards with his friends. Steve had bought land in Umbarger and built a lake and stocked it so his family could go fishing. He always had parties at the lake especially on the Fourth of July.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Halie Ricketts of Austin; a son, Aaron Ricketts of Amarillo; his parents, John and Jelanie Ricketts of Laguna Vista; two brothers, Curtis Ricketts and wife Shirley of Fritch and Christian Ricketts and wife Beckie of Austin; his wife Melody Ricketts of Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society.
