Sterlene Secrist

Mrs. Secrist was born on April 2, 1929 in Sterley, Texas unto Mead and Velma Day Pittman. She was the first baby born in Sterley and she was named after the town. She moved to Amarillo when she was five years old and attended Amarillo schools until she was 15 and then moved to Wellington where she lived with her grandmother Mrs. J. H. White. Mrs. Secrist was a graduate of Wellington High School. While in high school Velma was a Pep Squad leader, FFA sweetheart, senior class favorite and won the school music award her senior year. Mrs. Secrist later attended West Texas State College and the Holmes School of Shorthand. She married C. F. Secrist in Amarillo in 1961. He passed away in 2012.
Mrs. Secrist worked for many years for law firms in Amarillo and for Santa Fe Energy Company and Santa Fe Southern Pacific Corp. where she retired in 1988. Mrs. Secrist was a long time member of Hillside Christian Church where she was a member of the Journeyman Sunday school class. She later joined First Christian Church of Amarillo.

She is preceeded in death by her husband, her parents, two daughters Sue Carrell in 1991 and Linda Secrist in 2001.

Survivors include her son Eddie Secrist and his wife Sharon of Amarillo, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren
The family will be at 3813 S. Roberts .
