Stanley Blackburn, 76, of Amarillo passed away Tuesday, March 16 of 2021. He was born on April 15, 1944 in Fort Sumner, NM and is a graduate of Paris High school in Paris, AR. Stanley is preceded in death by his parents Vera Dennison and Lesly Blackburn, his grandparents, his siblings Moris and Marilyn Blackburn, and his stepson Tony Castañeda. He is survived by his wife Louise Blackburn, daughter Elizabeth Pacheco, grandkids Vannessa Blackburn, Valery, James, Viviana, and Jacob Pacheco. Stanley was also a proud stepfather to Bernardo, Nohemi, Maria, and Juan Castañeda, Vince Collins and Valerie Guerrero. Last but not least, he was a brother to Marvin and Cleta Blackburn, Margery Blackburn, Evelyn Tollison, Sydney and Janice Blackburn, Carl Blackburn, and Martha Johnson. He also has numerous neices and nephews, and many others who he considered children and grandchildren.
Stanley retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after serving a long career as a dedicated correctional officer. He was a strong man of faith, leading a life dedicated to Christ and guiding many to Lord along with him. His hobbies included working on his truck, spending time with his grandkids, and making others laugh with his witty jokes and playful sense of humor. Stanley never met a stranger, he never hesitated to befriend those he met and would go out of his way to serve others in any way possible. He will be deeply missed by many.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 4:00 PM Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home, 1505 Martin Road in Amarillo. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 4:00 PM.
