Sonja Gayle Nite

March 21, 1956 — January 9, 2011

Sonja was born March 21, 1956 in Lubbock, Texas to Austin Hutchinson (Tac) and Mary Ada Lee Tacquard. Sonja graduated from Amarillo High School in 1974 and attended Texas State Technical Institution (TSTI), where she pursued a career as a commercial artist for the Amarillo Globe News.  Sonja was married to Greg Nite on December 30, 1979.  Together they have one son, Calvin, who resides in College Station, Texas with his wife Valerie.
Sonja was passionate about her family and was a devoted pursuer of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Sonja enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, which primarily included spending time with and having fun with her friends and extended family.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend to many.  Sonja was and is a pillar of strength for her friends and family and continues to inspire hope and courage within us all.
Survivors include: husand, Greg Nite; son Calvin Nite and his wife Valerie;  mother Mary Tacquard;  two sisters, Sherral Bell and husband George and Felecia McAnally and husband Gary; two brothers: Martin Tacquard and wife Christina, and Austin Tacquard;  a very special sister-in-law and team leader: Pam Fletcher and husband Carlton and their children Greg, wife Natae, and Bryan; a special niece: Sara Parnell; a great nephew and great niece Dylan and Taegan; Brother and sister-in-law: Kelly and Jeanie Nite; and countless other friends and family members.
