Shirley was born on September 27, 1935 in Kaplan, Louisiana to Cesaire Trahan and Edia Abshire. She married Rene Hebert on November 25, 1954 in Kaplan Louisiana. She was a very devoted and loving wife and spent her early years of marriage supporting Rene as he continued his education and then raising and taking care of their six children. She had lived in Louisiana, Texas and Colorado throughout their marriage. She and Rene were married 62 years before his passing on December 21, 2016.
She loved all her children endlessly and especially enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family reunions would bring big smiles to her face as she was able to catch up with each of them. She loved her LSU football team and was always cheering hard for them every game. She loved to golf, and if you ask her family, she was never good with losing. She was known for her card playing and loved playing dominos every chance she had. She was an exceptional Cajun cook and her knowledge was passed to each of her children. Her cooking was definitely a show of her love for her family! MawMaw had so much love to share and will be missed so very, very much by everyone! We are comforted in knowing that she is now resting in heaven with PawPaw!
She is survived by her six children; Julen Hebert and wife Sherry, Kelly Hebert and wife Valerie, Shelly Carriere and husband Ken, Kevin Hebert and wife Brenda, Todd Hebert and wife Karen and Barth Hebert and wife April. She is survived by 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and many family and friends.
