Shirley L. Durmon, 82, of Amarillo died on Thursday, November 17, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 21, 2016 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel with Rev. Ken Holmes officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S Coulter Street.
Shirley was born on April 29, 1934 in Cedar Hill Community, Floyd County, Texas to Clarence Earl and Kathelene Dorothea Cooper. She graduated from Lockney High School in 1951. Shirley was an oil and gas legal secretary where she worked for Whittenburg Trust and Tom Marsh, Inc. She also worked as a secretary for Ramona Acosta Bañuelos who was the former Treasurer of the United States under President Richard Nixon. Shirley married Ronald Durmon on October 30, 1979 in Amarillo. She was a member of Legal Secretaries and Daughters of American Revolution. She attended Arden Road Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ron Durmon and a brother, Eddie Wayne Cooper.
She is survived by her children, Randy Beedy of Floydada and Cindy Waldrop and husband, Phil of Austin; grandchildren, Cheree Monden, Chris Monden and wife Jenni, Courtney Monden, Ragan Beedy and Charles Beedy; four great grandchildren; four step children, Kathy Goldman, Kenny Osborn, Rona Shoopack and Rick Durmon; five step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Sunday afternoon from 12:00 until 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
