Sheryl Ann Blagg passed away on January 24, 2025 at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Sheryl was absolutely the best mother and wife anyone could ever ask for.
Sheryl was born on August 9, 1946 in Borger, TX to Wallace and Dorothy (Mitchell) Keahey. Sheryl grew up in Panhandle, TX where she graduated high school. Panhandle was a very tight-knit community where she made lots of special, lifelong friendships that she maintained up to the day of her passing.
After leaving Panhandle, Sheryl soon married and moved to Amarillo to start her family, first giving birth to JD Williams in 1967 and then Jeff Williams in 1972. She was the quintessential ‘Boy Mom’ and knew when to yell at the refs and when to run the length of the bleachers cheering!
Through her adult life, Sheryl lived in Amarillo, Dumas, Booker, and Perryton, before finally moving to Amarillo in 1999 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Sheryl married Fred Blagg on February 13, 1997 and enjoyed every day they had together over their 27 wonderful years of marriage. Sheryl delighted in seeing what brand new thing Fred had built for her and loved smelling the thousands of bouquets of flowers Fred always brought to her.
Sheryl worked most of her life in clerical and secretarial positions in Dumas, Booker, Perryton with First National Bank and Lloyd Jones Well Service, and then McCarty-Hull in Amarillo where she finally retired. ‘Sort of retired’ is more accurate because she then worked every day in the early days of Jeff’s clinic answering phones and scheduling patients, for no pay, to help him get a head start for the next year or so. That’s just the kind of selfless, caring, and giving mother she was.
Sheryl enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. If you could craft the perfect superhero Mom and key family member for her tribe, she was it. Despite battling Multiple Sclerosis the better part of her life, she was a Mama Bear when she had to be and she was softer than silk when she didn’t have to be. Anyone that knew Sheryl knows the love and dedication she had for her family and friends. Sheryl also cherished her marathon phone calls with her nephews, nieces, and special connections and those conversations will always be special memories for them.
More than anything, Sheryl enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow into young men and a little lady. She cherished getting to see Justin Williams grow to become a physician focusing on pediatric gastroenterology. She loved Jake Williams dearly and enjoyed following all of his adventures and progress at Texas Tech. Jocelyn Williams is a granddaughter but is also the daughter that she never had. Watching Joss follow in her footsteps and become a high school cheerleader was special for her.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Lou Nisbet and husband Tommy Nisbet, her brother Bob Keahey and wife Dee, and grandson Jude Christian Williams.
She is survived by her son JD Williams and wife Shannon of Amarillo, son Jeff Williams and wife Megan of Amarillo, stepdaughter Kristi Blades and husband John Blades of Uvalde, stepdaughter Carla Blagg of Laughlin, NV, stepdaughter Cindy Aguilera and husband Jorge of Lake Chelan, WA, grandchildren Justin Williams and wife Emily of Dallas, TX, Jacob Williams of Lubbock, TX, Jocelyn (Bitsy) Williams of Amarillo, TX, Andrew Blades and wife Laura of Uvalde, TX, Caroline Kimball and husband Chase of Uvalde, TX, Jera Williams of Pampa, TX, Austin Beck of Houston, TX, and Bailey Beck of Amarillo, TX, several special brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, special and much loved nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
The family requests any memorials be sent to the Harrington Cancer & Health Foundation in Amarillo or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
