Sherry was born October 19, 1951 in Colorado City. She was a proud mother and grandmother. Sherry earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate in psychology from Texas Tech University. She did research in the 1980s on the psychology of HIV and AIDS patients. Sherry opened a private practice in Abilene in the 1990s. She had a particular passion for helping children. Sherry loved big dogs, big vehicles, Neiman Marcus, Texas, music, films, Thai food, barbecue, and chocolate. She believed in giving back to organizations like American Cancer Society.
Sherry is survived by her son Michael Nichols-Crowell and wife Ny Lynn and beloved grandson Connor of Amarillo; a brother, Truett Diegel and son Tom of Austin and best friend Bill Stearns of Dallas.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jo Ellen Diegel.
The family suggests memorials be sent to Family Support Services at 1001 S. Polk, Amarillo, TX 79101.
