Scherry Gene Tackett, 77, of Amarillo died on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Celebration of life services were held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with her daughter in law, Rev. Heather Reed of First Christian Church, officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Paducah, Texas. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Road.
Scherry was born on September 4, 1939 in Paducah, Texas to Robert Roy and Carey Mae Hill. She married Benjamin Reed in 1960 in Amarillo. Together they had five children. She later married Charles Tackett in 1980. She loved her dogs, enjoyed coloring and collecting solar powered dancing knick knacks. She was a homemaker and loving mother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Scherry was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Tackett, her son, Mark Reed, two brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to thank her special friends for their loving care, Diane and Jim Ada. We are also thankful for the tremendous care given to Mom at BSA by the CCU staff and the comfort provided by Elena and Chaplain Joan. We will remember that always.
She is survived by her children, Nychie Anderson and husband Brent, Michael Reed and wife Heather, Scheryl Lee and Rachael Greene, all of Amarillo; sixteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
