Sarah Elizabeth Harris, 78 of Amarillo died on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday December 15, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Blake Clevenger of Hillside Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Sarah Harris was born on October 30, 1936 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Frederick Oliver Byas and Zula Mae Hammons. She married Roy Harris and together they built a family allowing Sarah to become a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for taking care of the family, enjoying time with them, and telling them “they better be hungry when they come over to the house.” Sarah’s first hobby was her children and grandchildren. Her second hobby was gardening roses. She also loved to go fishing and tried to catch more fish than anyone else. Sarah was loved by many people and would do anything for anyone. She will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy, a brother Jerry Byas, and a daughter Donna.
Sarah is survived by two daughters, Vickie Welch and husband Randy, and Linda Joseph, a son Gary Harris and wife Linda all of Amarillo, Texas; a brother Forrest Byas and wife Pat of Belton, Texas; two sisters Virginia Pierce of Paris, Texas and Mamie Melton of Luther, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren and forty-two great-grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends from 3:00 - 5:00 pm, Sunday, December 14, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter.
