Sandra Dawn Hall, 43, of Canyon, TX Passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, surrounded by family.
Sandra was born on July 6, 1981, in Dumas TX to David and Debbie Martinez; they were residents of Dalhart, TX. She was the first grandchild of Ron and Carla Ethridge (Pa and Mata) and was treasured and loved completely. As a young child she would team up with her Pa to play Bible Trivia… and the 2 of them whipped the rest of the family without mercy.
Sandra loved to read her Bible, and books about the Bible. One of her favorite movies as a child was the Ten Commandments. When watching with her, you had better be quiet when God was about to speak, or you had a hot little girl on your case with her frowny look.
She graduated Randall High in 1999, with Honors in English. Sandra earned her Associate of Arts Degree from Colorado Christian University in 2013. Her dream was to further her degree in Counseling and eventually have a career in that field.
Sandra attended church regularly and her “friend group” was formed out of the youth group at Family Life Fellowship. That group of friends still exists today. They went on mission trips together, comforted each other in the bad times and celebrated each other’s good times. They each participated in the other’s weddings and were present when kiddos were born.
Sandra met Jared during that time, and they quickly became best friends. Months later, they were engaged, and when it was time to go shopping for an engagement ring, Jared asked 2 of her friends from the group to help him pick a ring Sandra would love. They were married on January 18, 2003. Their friend group was well represented, the families just as happy as can be.
Officiating the wedding were both Jared’s Grandfather JR Hammond, Sandra’s Grandfather Ron (Pa) Ethridge, and Pastor Dale Travis.
Early in 2005, Sandra’s morning sickness inspired a trip to the drugstore, only to discover that there was a baby on the way. The sonogram to reveal the gender of the child was both exciting and scary. She cried when she found out it was a girl. Mom told her not to worry… they would figure out how to be girls together...! In November, Michaela was born and was the perfect addition to Sandra and Jared’s family. Rather than figure out girlhood, they developed their own special style.
Jared, Sandra and Michaela moved to Clayton, NM in 2009. Their dream was to start a youth program at the church that was started by her Pa and was now pastored by Mike Phipps, Clayton Gospel Church. They worked as youth pastors for a couple of years and then felt called to return to Amarillo.
Sandra is survived by her Husband Jared Hall and Daughter Michaela; Father, David Martinez and Mother, Debbie; Sister, Shelley Hall and Husband, David; Grandmother, Carla (Mata) North, and Grandfather, Larry; Father-in-Law, Jerry Hall, and Wife, Debbie; Brother-in-law, Aaron Hall and Fiancé, Ansley; Tanner Hall and Wife Heather, Sister-in-Law, Caitlyn Cortez and Husband Anthony. 4 Nieces: Kaylei, Aspen, Hazel, and Gracie. 3 Nephews: Junior, Brayden, and Wyatt; and many cousins.
Sandra was preceded in death by three grandparents Ron (Pa) Ethridge, Virgil Martinez Sr. and Rosalie Martinez.
