Sandra Carlson

Sandra Carlson, 79, of Tucumcari, NM passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in Bushland, TX.  She was born on August 3, 1941 in Tucumcari to the late Emmett and Alice Bone.  She was married to Joe Carlson who preceded her in death in 2005.  Sandra was a member of the Center Street United Methodist Church in Tucumcari and the Quay County Extension Club.

She is survived by three daughters, Alicia Greenwood and husband Paul of Artesia, NM, Suzie Howsmon and husband Michael of Bushland, TX and Cristy Henderson and husband Shannon of Canyon, TX; grandchildren, Caitlyn Alaniz and husband Anthony, Kelli Greenwood and A.J., Tyler Greenwood, Noah Howsmon, Ryan Howsmon, Carlee Henderson and Scott Henderson; great grandchildren, Raphael, Silas and Rowan Alaniz and Jordyn Czubai.

Mom was reunited with our Dad and her family after an 8 month battle with cancer.  She fought the battle on her own terms and in the way she wanted.  Mom was a homemaker her whole life and she and Dad provided our home with love and laughter.  Mom was an avid reader, an amazing cook, a great seamstress and an incredible role model.  She always put her family first and our needs in front of her own.  Her sons-in-law were the sons she never had and she loved them all and appreciated everything they did for her.   Our kids were the luckiest grandkids ever, they couldn’t do anything wrong in Neno’s eyes.  Neno traveled to Artesia, Bushland and Canyon to support them in all of their activities and was their biggest fan.  She was proud of them and loved them and her great grandkids more than they will ever know.  We loved her immensely and will miss her all the rest of our days.

The family would like to say a special thanks to BSA Compassion Homecare and the BSA Hospice of the Southwest for the exceptional care they provided to Mom and the rest of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors of Amarillo.  Due to COVID restrictions, a service will be held at a later date.
