Ruth Pyeatt, 83 of Amarillo, TX passed away on May 25, 2011.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday evening, May 25, 2011 at the funeral home, located at 8310 S. Coulter. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, May 26, 2011 at The Church of Christ at The Colonies, 4500 Wesley with Dick Marcear officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel in Amarillo, TX.
Mrs. Pyeatt was born Sept. 14, 1927 in Amarillo to Al and Gladys Prestridge. She worked as the office manger for Dr. William T. Price from 1963 until 2010. Ruth was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and Beta Sigma Phi. She was also very involved with the New Neighbors Organization. She enjoyed traveling and playing bridge and she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joyce Peckham.
Her survivors include a daughter, Diane McDonald of Amarillo; a son, Tom Vermillion and wife Susan of Midland; four grandchildren, Cari Romans and husband Ken of Prague, CZ, Shaun McDonald of Amarillo, Amity Vermillion of Casper, WY and Tiffany Garza and husband Mark of Denver, CO, a great grandson; Evan Romans, a sister, Rita Self and husband Dan of Amarillo; three brothers, Bill Prestridge and wife Frances of Abilene, John Prestridge and wife Coy of Mesa, AZ and Lloyd Prestridge and wife Marsha of Marion, AR.
The family suggests memorials to Downtown Kiwanis Club or The Evelyn Rivers Project.
