Ruby Lucille Davis Cook

Born August 20, 1924, to Jim Goldman and Birdie Bell Ashford Davis, the third of seven children, in Cunningham TX.

She entered her heavenly home on May 31, 2023

She married her high sweetheart, James Hoyt Cook December 27, 1942.

She was a member of Crosbyton Church of Christ where she taught Bible class.

Ruby earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Texas Tech University and retired in 1992, after teaching Special Education for 23 years at Crosbyton ISD.  After retirement, Ruby loved to take road trips, especially with her daughters. She could often be found working in her yard, gardening, canning, sewing and cooking. She spent time most summers working the “Crosbyton” days at White River Youth Camp.

Ruby was a long-time member of the  Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Gamma Eta Chapter, holding many offices.

She moved to Amarillo in 2014 to be close to family

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, mother-in-law, Cumi Cook, brothers Delbert and Leonard Davis, and sister Leona Purcell.

Ruby was a spiritual inspiration and Christian example for those she leaves behind: Daughters Patricia Caddell (Royce) of Amarillo, Peggy Breunig (Craig) of Lubbock and Pamela Cook of Fort Worth. Grandchildren: Teresa Caddell, Jim Guthrie, Steve Caddell, (Carla), Karen Keele. Bobby Breunig and Jayson Breunig.  Siblings: Marge Holbert of Rogers Ark, Gavin Davis of Colorado City TX and Diana Rodgers of Paris TX, Sister-in-law Rachel Cook of Amarillo, numerous nieces, nephews,  and great-grandsons and great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to White River Youth Camp- WRYC/Russell Beene
