Roy Dale McCormick, 64, of Amarillo died on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Memorial services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Roy was born on October 28, 1951 in Roswell, NM to George and Carrie McCormick. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Roy married Cindy Martin on April 3, 1995 in Tucumcari, NM. He owned and operated Best Backhoe Service and then went to work for the City of Amarillo as a backhoe operator until he retired in 1998. Roy loved fishing, hunting, gardening and he had a great unique sense of humor. He was always joking with his grandchildren and his family, but most of all, Roy loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Evelyn Rae Fancher and two brothers, William McCormick and Raymond McCormick.
He is survived by his wife Cindy; four daughters, Jennifer Maggard, Tasha McCormick, Christy Kilman and her husband, Shane, and Jamie McCormick; two sons, Khaun McCormick and his wife, Traci, and Stephen McCormick and his wife, Megan; PaPa to eleven grandchildren, Nick, Loren, D.J., Morgan, Emily, Ashley, Hailey, Aleaya, Drake, Keegan and Emma; one great grandchild on the way; three sisters, Marion Omey, Phyllis Crenshaw and her husband, Bill, and Linda Wilhite, and her husband, Kenneth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy will be missed as much as he was loved.
