Roy Robert Cook, 91, of Amarillo passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Amarillo at BSA Hospital.
Roy was born in Logan, OK to Cecil I. Cook and A. Mae Ford Cook. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Beaver High School. Roy enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation and served in Hawaii, Okinawa and Japan. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to the Beaver County area. Roy married Frances L. Bell on September 11, 1949 in Booker TX. In his working career he worked for Lehman Motors in Booker, TX, the Phillips Refinery in Phillips, TX and the U.S. Bureau of Mines, Helium Activity Plants at Masterson, TX and Keyes, OK. He retired in 1981.
Roy was intreged by anything mechanical in nature and could repair anything that needed repairing. He loved to hunt, fish, play golf and in his retirement years became an accomplished woodworker and interested in geneology.
Roy is survived by Frances, his wife of 69 years and his children, Bob and wife, Brenda of Pueblo, CO, Gary and wife, Jana of Jenks, OK, Craig and wife, Laura of Amarillo, TX, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Also his sister, Wava Laine Bowdle of Kyle, TX and two brothers, Dewey of Beaver, OK and Kay of Green valley, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Stacy and two brothers, Cecil Jr. and Don.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Saint Stephens United Methodist Church located at 4600 S. Western St., Amarillo at 11:00 AM.
