Rosa Esperanza Hernandez

Rosa Esperanza Hernandez, 81, of Amarillo passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, surrounded by her family. Rosa was born on April 13, 1941, in Amarillo, TX to Domingo and Esperanza De La Garza. She married Abelardo “Abe” Hernandez on September 18, 1960. Rosa was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who showed an array of love to her family and friends. Rosa was a member of Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church in Amarillo for many years and was also a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Canyon.

She is preceded in death by her husband Abe Hernandez, parents; Domingo and Esperanza De La Garza, sisters; Cruz Francisca Cruz, Juanita Marie Baca, Jesusita Guadalupe Bustos,  brother; Ramon Domingo De La Garza, and daughter-in-law; Michelle Hernandez.

Rosa is survived by her daughter; Yolanda and husband Chuck Velasquez, son; Edward, and wife Laurie Hernandez, daughter; Anna Hernandez, son; Jason Hernandez, sister; Olivia Romo, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Friday from 5-7 pm January 20, 2023, at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home on Coulter Road. Funeral services will be 10 am, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Canyon. Burial will follow at 1 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo.
