Ronnie M. Rogers, 55, of Amarillo passed from this life on Monday, January 29, 2018. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 am Thursday, February 1, 2018 in the Church at Quail Creek with Rev. Kyle Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Ronnie was born on July 12, 1962 to Jerry and Phyllis Rogers. He graduated from River Road High School in 1980 and received an associated degree from TSTI. Ronnie served as a police officer for Amarillo Police Department before transferring to Potter County Sheriff Department where he retired as a Sgt. Deputy Sheriff on January 31, 2016. He also served as the volunteer Chief of Police at the Village of Palisades. Ronnie married Maria Hernandez on November 24, 2010 in Panhandle, Texas. He was a life long member of the Church at Quail Creek and a member of FOP. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his grand babies.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Terri Rogers, twin infant daughters, Alisha May and Amanda Kay Rogers and a granddaughter, Penelope Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Rogers; parents, Jerry and Phyllis Rogers; children, Derek Rogers and wife Kayla, Ryan Rogers and wife Kate, Ronnie Rogers Jr., Kelsey Rogers and wife Hayley, Trisstin Rogers and wife Grace and Kynan Rogers, step children, Jose Ramirez and Jackeline Halsted and husband, Adam; brother, Bobby Rogers and wife Darlene; grandchildren, Serena, Athena, Nicole, Sarah, Harper and Thor and niece, Shelley Rogers.
The family suggests memorials to the Fraternal Order of Police.
Family will receive guests on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
