Ronnie Harrell Palmer, 70, of Amarillo died on Thursday, May 21, 2015. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Ronnie was born on December 13, 1944 in Amarillo to Harrell and Elsie Palmer. Ronnie graduated from Amarillo High School in 1963 and joined the United States navy and proudly served his country from 1964 to 1968. After being honorably discharged, he came back to Amarillo and worked for the Texico Refinery from 1968 to 1985. Ronnie then went to work for the Exell Helium Plant from 1985 until retiring in 2000. Ronnie loved spending time with his family and attending his grandson’s activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Fred.
He is survived by his son Eric Palmer and wife, Misti of Amarillo; two brothers, Darrell Palmer of Amarillo and Bob Palmer of Wolfforth; two step daughters, Shannon Davis of Austin and Paige Jackson of Dallas; five grandchildren, Tony Brazell (Tony considered Ronnie his Dad), Logan Palmer, Cody Palmer, Nicholas Bauer and Rachel Davis and his ex-wife, Nita Palmer of Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be to: Kids, Incorporated, 2201 S. E. 27th, Amarillo, Texas 79103.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 – 7:00 pm, Friday, May 22, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
