Ronal Skelton, 73, of Amarillo died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Trinity Fellowship Church, West Sanctuary, with John Love, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.
The family will receive guests from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Skelton was born Mar. 29, 1938, in Hominy, Okla., to John and Ollie Skelton. He graduated from Claude High School in 1954 and married Jean Brown in Portales, N.M., that same year.
Ronal worked for Clowe and Cowan for 43 years and was vice president. He also worked at Scottco for seven years until his retirement in 2003.
Mr. Skelton was an intelligent man of integrity and a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He and Jean loved to travel and, especially loved visiting Yellowstone Park. He
cherished spending time with his family and loved attending all of his grandchildren’s various events and activities.
Ronal enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing card games and Scrabble with his family. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Keri Terrell and Bobbie Perrin of Harrington Cancer Center and Pam Dahlberg of Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Warner Skelton and Keith Skelton.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; three sons, Rodney Skelton and wife Leslie and Dennis Skelton and wife Belinda, all of Amarillo, and Greg Skelton and wife Contessa of Austin; nine grandchildren, Erin McKenna and husband Joe of Lawton, Okla., Deni Matthews and husband Bryan, Seth Skelton and wife Ashly, Mackenzie Skelton, Lauren Bonin Heath Skelton and Orry Skelton, all of Amarillo, and Ronal Tom Skelton, John Skelton and Nora Skelton, all of Austin; eight great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members.
