Robert Donald Stennett

Robert Donald Stennett, 90 of Amarillo passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017. Burial will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, December 8, 2017 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in Washington Avenue Christian Church, 3800 S. Washington with Rev. Jim Shelburne officiating. Arrangements are under the person care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Robert was born on June 17, 1927 in Paducah, Texas to Harvey and Francis Stennett. He grew up in Bowie, Texas where he worked on the family farm. He joined the United States Navy, serving in WWII as a ship fitter. He was married to Marjorie Edwards for over 50 years. Robert worked at Pantex Plant until his retirement in 1986. When he wasn’t working at the plant he was a shade tree mechanic working on someone’s car.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers.
Mr. Stennett is survived by a son, Robert D. Stennett Jr. and wife Jan, of Colorado Springs; a daughter Becky Stark and husband Scott, of Amarillo; six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Christmas Far and Near at Washington Avenue Christian Church, 3800 S Washington Street, Amarillo, TX 79110.
Family will receive guest on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
