Robert Alston "Bob" Langhorne, Jr. was the son of Robert and Mary Langhorne. He was also a child of this land he loved so much. During his life he traveled far and wide but always found his way back to his beloved Texas Panhandle.
Whether he was lobbying in Austin as the President of the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce, adding the back 9 to the Dalhart Country Club, acting as a self appointed docent of the LaRita Theatre, serving others through the Dalhart Lions Club, overseeing the Cleo Jenkins scholarship fund, or bird hunting, fishing and golfing with his beloved friends and dogs, Bob loved this country and community with passion and commitment.
Bob attended the University of Texas, served in the Army, and moved back to Dalhart in 1968 to take his dad's place at the Priestly-Langhorne Agency. During his career as an independent insurance agent, Bob served his clients with integrity and served his peers in state leadership positions to benefit the industry. He was elected Governor for District 2-T1 of Lions Clubs and led the effort to place a beautiful statue of lions at the Texas Lions Camp entrance.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Langhorne, Sr. and his brother-in-law, Charlie Ross.
